Hormone Optimization & Bioidentical Hormone Therapy for Men and Women
As we age, hormone levels naturally decline, but that does not mean fatigue, brain fog, low libido, weight gain, or poor sleep are things you simply have to accept. When hormones fall out of balance, the effects can reach nearly every system in the body, impacting energy, metabolism, mood, cognitive function, and long-term health.
At Priority You MD, hormone optimization is approached as whole-body medicine — not just symptom management. Our care is led by Dr. Brent Agin, MD, who has more than 20 years of experience in hormone optimization and functional medicine and continues to train physicians nationwide in advanced, patient-centered treatment strategies.
Our Process
We begin with comprehensive, in-office blood testing to create a clear picture of your hormonal, metabolic, and overall health before any treatment decisions are made.
Step 1: Comprehensive Lab Testing
This is completed prior to your initial visit and includes advanced blood testing designed to evaluate not just hormone levels, but how those hormones interact with your metabolism, thyroid function, cardiovascular health, inflammation, and overall wellness.
Panels are customized to your symptoms and goals, but commonly include:
Hormone & Endocrine Markers
- Total and Free Testosterone
- Estrogens
- Progesterone
- DHEA-S
- Pregnenolone
- Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG)
- Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH)
- Luteinizing Hormone (LH)
- Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1)
- PSA (for men, when indicated)
Thyroid Function
- Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)
- Free T4
- Free T3
Metabolic & Cardiovascular Health
- Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP)
- Lipid Panel
- Hemoglobin A1c
- Fasting Glucose and metabolic markers
Nutrient & Energy Markers
- Vitamin D
- Vitamin B12
- Ferritin
- Iron, TIBC, and UIBC
Inflammation & Whole-Body Health
- High-Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (hs-CRP)
- Complete Blood Count (CBC) with Differential
Step 2: Physician Consultation
Once your lab results are available, you will meet with Dr. Agin for a detailed consultation. He will review your results alongside your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle factors, and personal health goals to develop a treatment plan designed specifically for you, not just for your numbers.
Step 3: Personalized Hormone Optimization Plan
Based on your clinical findings, Dr. Agin may recommend a customized bioidentical hormone regimen along with targeted nutrient or metabolic support when appropriate. Treatment options may include topical creams, oral tablets or troches, and injectable therapies.
Step 4: Ongoing Monitoring and Optimization
During the initial phase of treatment, patients are typically re-evaluated every 3 to 6 months to monitor progress, adjust dosing as needed, and ensure safety and optimal results. Once your hormones are stable and you are feeling well on a consistent regimen, many patients only need follow-up visits annually to maintain their results and continue safe, long-term care.
Common Symptoms of Hormone Imbalance
