What is Concierge Medicine?
Concierge medicine is a patient centered health care model where the patients pay an annual fee to the doctor directly for enhanced medical services. This type of practice has also been called boutique, retainer, and direct practice medicine. This model allows the physician to take care of fewer patients and removes the physician-patient relationship from the grasps of insurance requirements. This means more attention to you, more focus on wellness, and more time spent on meeting your health care goals!

Traditionally, a doctor may care for several thousand patients. But in our practice, the number of patients we see are limited so that we can spend more time with you and provide more comprehensive personalized care.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Who can be on my Family Concierge Plan?
A: Families living in the same household (i.e. significant others, spouses, or children) are eligible for the family concierge rate. Children must be at least 5 years old.
Q: Do I need insurance if I join your plan?
A: Concierge Medicine is not a substitute for a health insurance. Insurance can be used to cover services not offered in the office including labs, x-rays, medications, emergency room and hospital care, and visits to a specialist. We do not provide management of chronic disease states and we will refer you to an appropriate specialist for management as needed. Although we recommend that patients carry health insurance, we do care for many patients without insurance and try to find low cost options for any needed ancillary services. Concierge medicine provides high-quality medical care to everyone, including patients without health insurance. If you are interested in carrying health insurance, you may opt for a higher deductible plan.
Q: Is your fee reimbursable through my insurance company?
A: A portion of the annual fee may be reimbursable under PPO insurance (this does not apply to Medicare patients). Check with your insurance company on coverage for “out of network” provider office visits. Although we do not bill your insurance directly, claim forms can be provided for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Concierge works well with a High Deductible Health Plan with a Health Savings Account (HSA).
Q: What if I have a HMO Insurance Plan?
A: Patients with HMO’s cannot utilize their insurance benefits under our care due to restrictions of the HMO plan. Only your assigned, network primary care physician can order tests and referrals, many of which need pre-authorization. If you understand these insurance restrictions, you can always be part of the practice without any use of your HMO insurance. Some patients still utilize concierge medicine for second opinions, easier appointment times, and for our wellness services.

I am going to be fully transparent here in the event that my story may help others find different solutions for dealing with, in my case, C-PTSD. I am 52 years old and have been dealing with C-PTSD my whole life. I spent 18 years of my life being abused, tortured, and neglected. Never any positive reinforcement of any kind. As most of you probably know, trauma causes scientific changes in the brain. Your brain starts remodeling itself in a very unhealthy way and pathways that are necessary for managing “happiness” turn against you and ultimately stop “lighting up” for lack of a better word (I am no scientist!). I have physically and emotionally felt the devastation of this. I have spent the majority of my life sad, depressed and anxious although I have always been able to care for myself and keep a career going, everything else just seemed impossible. I tried many medications, therapy modalities (CBT, EMDR, etc.) and even looked into doing ECT but ECT is not a fit for trauma (can actually make it worse according to the Dr.’s at UCLA medical center). I started reading about Ketamine infusions a few years ago and finally, after being fed up with many of the systems in place for trauma survivors, decided to investigate it more. This is how I found Dr. Agin and his amazing staff at Priority You. I had also heard about the nasal inhaler method but that did not work (at all) for me. I finally made the appointment to meet with Dr. Agin and, if the chat went well, to do my first treatment. I can’t say I was all that nervous, I was actually more hopeful than anything. And the staff (Jenny, Jaime, Aubrey, Katye, Cathy and Kathy) were absolutely amazing! I have never felt more cared for and safe in a medical environment.
